About nail fungus infection

Nail fungus is a fungal infection of the nail. It is a common problem amongst adults, affecting men and women alike, and incidence increases with age. Nail Fungus is the most prevalent issue affecting nails and although the vast majority of cases relate to toenails, fingernails can also be infected by this disease.

Nail fungus can have a significant impact on the emotional, social and occupational well-being of individuals. Typically, the nail becomes thicker and changes to a yellowish-brown. Foul smelling debris may collect under the nail. The infection can spread to the surrounding nails and even the skin.

Nail fungus not only looks unhygienic, it can be contagious too; spreading from one nail to another, and from one person to the other. Therefore, it is crucial to treat nail fungus as soon as symptoms arise and the infection has been diagnosed.
